Tasting Note - Tallis Cab Sav 2004 (Excellent value)

At $18 and in perfect drinking mode right now this wine is a winner. A dark, opaque, plummy red gives a perfect blend of dark berry fruit, black current with a black tea leaf aroma. Medium palate weight with a black current and herbal character. It is smooth and warming on the finish with noticeably low tannin. This wine shows all the hallmarks of elegant cool climate Cabernet Sauvignon.

Different bottle????????

This started out quite promising with blackberry and old woody notes on the nose. The palate, however, was quickly swamped with sweet (too sweet for me) liquered blackberry and a thickness to the palate structure that I just couldn't get my head around. Had I tasted blind I would have assumed this was a factory wine from the likes of FBG, minus the hard acidic edge.
