Tasting Note - Shelmerdine Red Hat 2004

This wine is actually a Shiraz / Cabernet / Merlot blend. End of vintage barrel filler perhaps? Ever so slightly porty nose and maybe the faintest hint of nail polish (VA?). Not particularly attractive nose but no show stopper. Palate flavours do nothing for me; tight acidity, a fraction metallic, hard edges. Not much pure fruit poking through, which makes it tough for me to get excited. Tannins are quite pronounced. Could have be trying a dud bottle as real scribes (inc WineFront) were quite positive.
