Tasting Notes - Thomson Estate Cabernet Merlot 2003

This wine looks like pretty decent value around $25.

Mild mannered nose of red berries and the fainest of blackberries. Ripe, but not stupidly so. Little gamey streaks as well - nice. Palate shows some class with cold tea notes (a personal fave), furry tannin (in-check), mint and a slightly liquered herbal edge. Has a line of acid running through the middle which seems just a bit out of place. Given the tannin structure and firming finish I'd expect this wine to drink well as a 6yr - 8yr old. Nearly gave it a tick but the acid thing distracted me just enough not to to so. That said, this is far from a crap drink.
