Wine Review - Balnaves Cabernet Sauvignon 2005

Jeremy Oliver, OnWine - 91pts
"This deeply flavoured, dark-fruited and brooding cabernet is scented with blackberries, cassis, Christmas cake and mocha/dark chocolate oak backed by dusty herbal notes and a hint of meatiness, with faint undertones of cedar, cigarboxes and treacle. Plush and smooth, its powerfully ripened flavours of blackberries, plums, cherries and cassis are underpinned by powdery tannins, finishing firm and drying. Just marginally too cooked for a higher rating. (Coonawarra, not yet released, 17.4/91, drink 2013-2017)."
