Tasting Notes - Gunderloch 'Jean Baptiste' Kabinett 2001 (Recommended)

Region: Rheinhessen (Germany)
Vineyards: Nackenheimer Rothenberg & Niersteiner Pettenthal

A great example of how such a simple wine can be very effective. The Jean Baptiste is Gunderloch's entry level kabinett (medium dry) offering that retails for about $25 in Australia. The off-dry riesling fruits are very settled and balanced yet show no kero, despite the age, rather just pure sweet citrus riesling fruits. I was quite surprised at the quality of the showing. Great value.
