Tasting Notes - Karra Yerta Riesling 2006

The 2005 was an excellent wine so I was looking forward to the follow-up. Youthful pale gold, perhaps just the fainest touch of a richer yellow coming through. Nose certainly a bit more advanced that expected; well defined lemon, very settled, but also a mild honey hint. The latter character gives the development hint. The aromas are almost old-fashioned in some respects. Palate is ripe with more lemon and honey. Flavours are quite assertive and the palate depth is much greater that the aromas implied. Finish tightens with harder mineral notes, chalky almost, and a vein of acid kicks in late. Won't disappoint at the price ($20).
