Tasting Notes - Jamieson Valley Estate Jameaux Pinot Noir 2006
Striking label, classic style with a real European vibe. Perhaps the slightly dorky 'Jameaux' title is trying to achieve the same? Sweet strawberry fruits and oak hit the nose quite forcefully, kinda attractive but ultimately very simple. More sweet character to taste but I can't really assess the fruit as the oak overall lends a layer of sweetness I can't really pick. There's plenty of oak but it's not 'oaky'. Spicy finish is quite ok. All-in-all not really enough here to get me excited.

Thanks for the comments Stu.
We grow the grapes and Scott McCarthy makes the wine.
Our aim is to produce a great pinot that is approachable and reasonably priced.
Dorky? Well its our first vintage and we aim to continually improve, so let's let time be the arbiter.
Oh and Nick Chlebowski gave us a 91, so we are pretty cool with that too.
Cheers,

Thanks for the comments Chris - appreciated. I guess I call 'em as I see 'em. Your packaging is first rate - something often lost with many new producers. Re the Nick's rating (for what it's worth) we totally disregard what a fellow retailer / competitor might think about a wine as the potential for conflict of interest is just too great. Hope you see where I'm coming from.....
